Jan Norberger

Jan started his career serving six years in the Royal Australian Air Force, where he received an Officer Commanding Commendation for outstanding professionalism and service beyond the call of duty.

After his Airforce career Jan held numerous senior management positions within both large and small businesses in WA and abroad (East Timor). These included State Commercial Manager for Toll Priority, Group General Manager of Richards Mining Services and Group General Manager of DHL East Timor and Timor Aviation Services.

In 2012 Jan was awarded the WA Business News 40Under40 award in recognition of his numerous career achievements.

In 2013 Jan was elected to the Western Australian state parliament as the Member for Joondalup, later being promoted to Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Planning and Disability Services. Within parliament Jan also served 4 years on the Economics and Industry Standing Committee

Jan joined the Australian Medical Association (WA) in early 2017, taking on the strategic role of General Manager for Education and Training. This role oversaw the various training organisations of the AMA with his key achievements being the establishment of AMA College as an international education provider and WA’s newest nursing school.

In July 2023 Jan commenced in a national role with the Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance as their Executive Director for Workforce Strategy and Industry Engagement.

As Byfield’s Chief Operating Officer, Jan works closely with the Directors to ensure the firm operates efficiently, has the best staff possible and is geared towards the ongoing provision of outstanding services to our clients.

Jan holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and an Advanced Diploma of Accounting

Jan is married to wife Mira and together they have a son, Daniel, and daughter, Hanna. Together they enjoy fishing and exploring our wonderful state.
